How ResponsAble Project Safety Hires Deliver Consistency and Expertise for National Utility Projects

Key Takeaways of a ResponsAble Project Staffing Partnership

  • Professional-level hires with verified certifications and industry-specific experience (industrial, electrical, solar).
  • Long-term workforce consistency across multiple projects and locations.
  • Hands-on client support during audits, incidents, and staffing transitions.
  • Integrated oversight, like pairing Safety Managers with Construction Managers for complete safety alignment.

Finding certified safety professionals capable of managing high-risk, short-term projects is no easy task. When projects end or need to shift to a new location, companies are often left starting over to rebuild relationships and retrain new hires, wishing for the same results as last time. ResponsAble connects organizations with the industry’s top safety leaders – those hard-to-find professionals who can step into complex environments, integrate quickly, and maintain consistent standards from project to project.

Understanding the Need: Professional-Level Safety Hires

As Responsable’s project hire lead, Neil Lemoine specializes in connecting organizations with top-tier safety personnel.

“These are the elite of the elite in the safety world,” says Neil, “Typically, these professionals hold BCSP certifications — like CSP, ASP, or GSP — which require a degree plus extensive verifiable work experience. Others may hold CHST or STSC credentials.”

These professionals are equipped for industrial, electrical, and solar environments, bringing the technical expertise and certifications required for high-stakes work. In-demand titles include:

  • Safety Manager (industrial, electrical, or solar)
  • HSE Coordinator
  • Quality Control / Construction Manager (CQM)
  • Safety Technicians with specific certifications

Partnering for the Long Term

Many staffing companies think in terms of headcount, but we think in terms of partnership. Our hiring approach starts with understanding each client’s safety culture, project pace, and operational demands.

“We don’t just look at resumes,” Neil explained. “We interview, video call, and assess demeanor, knowledge, and alignment with our core values. We want people who do the right thing and are capable of representing us and our clients in the field.”

Our project managers often visit job sites in person, so that we can ensure that every placement is the right fit. That investment pays off in consistency: fewer turnover issues, smoother onboarding, and a team that already knows your expectations when the next project begins.

Placing 12 Safety Managers Nationwide

Late in 2023, ResponsAble began a relationship with Telyon, a turnkey engineer, procure, construct (EPC) provider that designs and installs solar electrical generation systems across the country. They had previously employed safety professionals through traditional staffing agencies, but there was a lack of accountability and consistency in sourcing the right expertise. And, they were ready to try something new.

Working closely with ResponsAble’s recruiting department, Neil and his team sourced, vetted, and interviewed candidates, ensuring both skills and cultural fit. The first placement – a Safety Manager – launched the partnership.

“I actually went to that project at the beginning to be out there when they started,” Neil said. “That’s something we didn’t necessarily do before, but we wanted to be there for support.”

Over the course of the year, ResponsAble placed a total of 12 Safety Managers across multiple Telyon projects, including Ohio, New York, and California.

Maintaining Continuity in Safety

High-profile safety projects don’t pause for scheduling conflicts – neither do we. When one of Telyon’s preferred Safety Managers needed time off upon starting, what could have caused costly downtime instead became a study in solutions. Drawing from our national bench of qualified safety professionals, we quickly sourced and placed a vetted manager to provide coverage, allowing the project to stay on schedule.

That flexibility and speedy problem solving come from preparation. Our bench professionals are already trained, experienced, and familiar with site protocols, so they can step in when and where they’re needed most. Whether it’s vacation coverage, multi-site consistency, or specialized vetting, our approach keeps safety programs running, no matter how complex the operation.

Telyon, like many of our clients, requires a multi-step approval process for safety personnel involving both contractor and end-user reviews. Because ResponsAble’s vetting process is equally rigorous, candidates are more likely to arrive ready to meet those standards from day one, minimizing overall disruption and reinforcing client trust.

How We Support Clients

Responding to Incidents

On another Telyon site, a subcontractor sustained a minor injury, prompting an audit by the end user’s inspection team. Though not contractually obligated, ResponsAble immediately sent personnel to support our safety professional and our client on-site.

“We respond like this because we understand the value of being a true partner,” Neil said.

This level of hands-on service reinforces trust, strengthens client relationships, and ensures that the client’s safety standards are upheld under pressure.

Pairing Safety Managers with Quality Control Managers

The partnership also revealed additional client needs, such as Quality Construction Managers (CQM), certified through the Army Corps of Engineers. These professionals work alongside safety managers, have the authority to stop unsafe operations, and further enhance project oversight. ResponsAble now pairs 12 CQMs with the 12 Safety Managers, effectively doubling the expertise and support on each project.
